Dorothie Field (1915-1994) Metaphysical abstract
Dorothie Field (1915-1994) was a painter, draughtsman, art promoter and teacher. Born in London, studied at Highbury Hill School (with Nan Youngman) 1927-31; Chelsea School of Art under Henry Moore 1931-32: Nottingham and then Birmingham Schools of Art.
She was a founder of Gallery 359 and Field Galleries. Solo show at Wertheim Gallery. Represented in group shows: Arts Council UK, SEA, AIA and Pictures For Schools. Retrospective at Nottingham University in 1990.
A super and rather beguiling painting in the Metaphysical style. Painted in oil onto hardboard and signed by the artist.
