Fred Dubery (1926-2011) Painter and teacher, a native of Suffolk where much of his work was painted. Intimate, beautiful paintings of domestic and rural observations. He studied at Croydon School of Art, 1949-50 and at the Royal College of Art 1950-3. From 1964 he taught for many years at the Royal Academy, being appointed professor of perspective in 1984. From 1950 was a regular RA exhibitor, also showing at NEAC, Leicester Galleries and Roland, Browse & Delbanco. Solo shows at Trafford Gallery and New Grafton Gallery, 1974 onwards. Wrote several books on drawing and perspective.

Fred and his wife Joanne Brogden (1929-2013) who was a sculptor and seminal Professor of Fashion at the Royal College, lived together in Suffolk. For decades the couple entertained friends and students royally. By all accounts, they were jolly nice folk.

Work held by Brighton Museum, Christchurch Mansion, Ipswich and Norwich Castle Museum.
