This confident and expressive landscape is made up of heavy, impasto oil paint. The painting has recently been re mounted into a period mid century frame.
Geoffrey Hewitt was a British painter born Sunderland in 1930 who studied at the Royal College of Art and lectured at Birmingham. He showed regularly before his untimely death in 1981. Most notably at the Royal Academy and Royal Birmingham Society of Artists. One man exhibitions include Shipley Gallery, Univision Gallery and Arden Gallery. He was known as a hard task master as a teacher. Students include Tom Coates, Paul Curtis & Roger Curtis.
