Joan Lever (1925-1997) British abstract oil on board.

  • A delightful small oil on board by an important Suffolk artist.

Joan Lever is listed as a Suffolk artist but born in London. She moved to South Africa where she trained under Maurice Van Essche (a Belgian who had worked under Matisse) She then studied at St Martins in London under Kenneth Martin and Frederick Gore.

This oil on board is painted with a fluid and confident hand depicting a beautifully observed and abstracted landscape. Mounted on the original, artists board with label verso.
