A late 1950's plaster model/maquette aquired from the artists estate of Margaret Somerville (1935-2018) This piece was most likely made as a proposal for a public commission.
Margaret Somerville worked as a mosaic artist and sculptor on the Isle of Barra in the Outer Hebrides. She exhibited widely throughout Scotland gaining many and often large scale public commissions. Her monumental sculpture of Saint Barr stands on Barra Island. A copy of the artists archive will be included with this piece.
